Woohye Jang, travel writer

Travel book cover and map illustrations

잘란잘란 말레이시아 (Jalan-jalan Malaysia) is a travel log by writer Woohye Jang who discovers the beauty of Malaysia through exploring the streets of Kuala Lumpur and its vibrant surroundings; armed only with maps and a curious, open mind.

Initially approached to make two map illustrations for the book, I proposed the idea of "jalan-jalan" for the book title, which is the plural word for road/street in Malay. It also has another meaning: "to take a stroll", which aptly describes the way of travel that the writer intended – slow travel and connecting to the locals.
